I am eating almonds:

I am inspired by this website (http://bentobjects.blogspot.com/) to take pictures of random bathroom items:
(Picture these toothbrushes as people...what are they doing?)

I am wearing a cape (it has ties now):

My life is full and pleasant, although it is so easy to be discontented.  This is something God has really been getting on my case about.  Anyway, a few things that comprise my life at the moment:
  1. Reading.  I have been reading lots of books that I want to read or have been told I should read.  I have quite a bit of time for this at the moment, and I want to take advantage of that time.  In the past I have felt very guilty for reading so much, but at the moment I feel like this time is a gift God has given me, and I should take advantage of it.  I'm not reading pulp fiction, but some really good classics like

...and some fun kids books like

(Actually I plan to read that last one this week.)

2. Family.  My grandparents celebrated their 50th Anniversary this weekend, and lots of family gathered at our house.  It was really fun.
My grandparents:

All of the ladies on my mom's side of the family:

Cousin David and brother Peter:

My job at the celebration was to welcome people and get them to sign the guestbook:

3. Work.  I'm working part-time at Michaels right now, and I'm really enjoying it for the most part.

You know you're jealous.

Of course, there are many other things that make up my life - going to church, going on walks, talking to Ryan, spending time with the Lord, sleeping, and more.  And when I remember how good and faithful the Lord is, life is really good.

Gas provides the motivation environmentalists have been searching for

Is it just me, or are the rising gas prices the answer to the environmentalist's pleadings?

http://edition.cnn.com/2008/US/05/26/gas.driving/index.html

Driving this March was down 4% from last March, a record drop.  For the first time in six years, people actually planned to drive less this Memorial Day than last Memorial Day.  Because of the expense of gas, people are motivated to drive slower and carpool, as well as just plain travel less.  Maybe more people will begin to regularly use public transportation.

Gas prices may be shooting up, but maybe this is the way back to a greener earth.

PS I do not consider myself an environmentalist other than the fact that I believe God created the earth and put us in charge, and therefore we should take care of it.  However, I do like the idea of a more slow-paced life, perhaps lacking some of the noise and insanity that seems to accompany our culture and the fact that everyone has a personal car.  And added bonus: less driving equals less pollution!

PPS Did you know that Newsies is an amazing movie?
