For the first time in six years, people actually planned to drive less this Memorial Day than last Memorial Day. Because of the expense of gas, people are motivated to drive slower and carpool, as well as just plain travel less. Maybe more people will begin to regularly use public transportation.

Gas prices may be shooting up, but maybe this is the way back to a greener earth.

PS I do not consider myself an environmentalist other than the fact that I believe God created the earth and put us in charge, and therefore we should take care of it. However, I do like the idea of a more slow-paced life, perhaps lacking some of the noise and insanity that seems to accompany our culture and the fact that everyone has a personal car. And added bonus: less driving equals less pollution!

PPS Did you know that Newsies In case you want to know more about him, he asked me to the spring banquet by acting out part of Princess Bride. How much better can it get? :) Of course, he has a lot of other good qualities too.
Her fingers yearned to type.

*click click click*

She wrote a blog. It was amazing. Everyone loved it and was amazed. She got 15 comments. She didn't tell anybody that her friend was sitting right next to her telling her what to say. They both laughed a lot. They sat contemplating what to write next. They spent some time deep in thought, interspersed with giggles. They debated whether to work on their giant paper due Monday, or continue writing the amazing blog.

They decided sleep was the best option. They both ate a strawberry newton and went to bed. Amy began to tuck Amanda into bed when all of a sudden Amanda became violent and almost bit her fingers off! But she failed in her attempt. Amanda then snapped out of her psychotic moment and conked out. She snored and drooled. Thus Amy had her revenge.

*partially based on an almost true story

This is what my dear Amanda really looks like, as of today.
I'm currently on a four-day break for Easter, and loving it. We have the school mostly to ourselves, and I spent a few hours yesterday working (and earning money for it!). In the evening a small crowd of us gathered and dyed eggs and played speed scrabble. It was really fun, and I really enjoyed spending some time together with these good friends, especially a certain nice young man that I'm getting to know. (Yes, you read that right, although I'm not going to say anything else at the moment.) Afterward we went to the Marble Chapel, which has amazing acoustics, and had an hour-long hymn-sing - gotta love those Easter hymns! We were so hyper after a rousing "Up from the grave He aROSE!" that we all goofed off and talked for about half an hour, even thought it was quite late.

I have also been trying to do at least 250 push-ups a day, although I'm not always succeeding...and at the moment they are really difficult because I am so sore!

This morning a bunch of us got up early and ate breakfast at church, cooked by the elders, and then enjoyed the Lord's Supper and a preaching service. God is teaching me a lot of things this Easter, but one of them is just His love, and the fact that He covered EVERYTHING, all my sin and failures. Do you realize how huge that is? I really get so caught up in trying to do a good job at being His child that I forget that He has taken care of it all, and I can just rest in Him. He's also been showing me that I should want a much more intimate relationship with Him. Dr. M was pointing out today that we don't really talk about heaven because we're pretty satisfied with this world. I don't WANT to be satisfied with this world!

I'm going to do a little reading before I go hide some chocolate eggs for a hunt a little later. :)

Oh, and here is the haircut that I got over spring break! I've had fun scrunching it with gel, which I've never tried before...
<img title="100_9626" style="border-style: none; I spent spring break at my good friend Amanda's house, and it was so wonderful! Here are some key phrases:

* speed scrabble * another one bites the dust * road trips * mall of america * three-dollar truffle * arrowsmith (the novel) * elf (the movie) * ping-pong * friends that became almost like family * time with the Lord * handing out tracts and seeing someone read one straight through * praying for spring break missions trips, etc. * enchanted (the movie) * trying on beautiful gowns at deb * pursuit of happyness (the movie) * sleep * homemade meals * coffeeshops * coffee and other hot beverages * somewhere over the rainbow * haircut * spontaneous nonsense, goofing off, and dancing * rhettandlink.com *

Some words to sum it up:
Relaxation, comfort, and contentment

And I am enjoying school, too, which is great! I've been keeping busy, but not too busy, and I've been finishing my homework on time and things like that. I've also been getting some hours at work, which is sometimes difficult to do. I played my first soccer game last night, and we lost 1-2, but we played again tonight and won 5-4! Unfortunately, I miscalculated the time of the game, and showed up in time to watch the last 30 seconds. Hmph. The benefit is that I got some good things done in the hour before I thought I would be playing. So God is good, and we won! haha.

He keeps reminding me of the importance of spending time with Him and in His word, and I'm praying that He will teach me more how to seriously desire His word and His presence. I spend time with Him, but not as much as I should be if He is really my best friend.

Keep looking at Jesus, friend. Stare at Him, fill your eyes with Him. There's nothing else worth looking at.
